The manmade lake Zhrebchevo situates in the heart of Sredna Gora Mountain 20 km North-West of Nova Zagora between Stara Zagora and Sliven. The place is South of Stara Planina (Balkan) Mountain in the valley of one of the largest rivers in the country: Tundzha. The lake was build 50 years ago for irrigation of this large, beautiful and fertile valley also know as The Valley of the Roses for the rose plantations near Kazanlak. This is the second and larger dam on River Tundzha which at one end borders with the main road E80 connecting Sofia with the Black Sea ant Burgas.
